Rupiah Touch 15,183 per US Dollar Welcomes Weekend
The position of the
rupiah against the US dollar is still in the range of 15,100 by the end of this
weekend. External sentiment still affects the rupiah exchange rate against the
US dollar.

data, the rupiah weakened to 15,183 per US dollar in trading this Friday.
At the opening, the
rupiah weakened 10 points to 15,189 per US dollar from yesterday's closing at
15,179. Throughout Friday this week, the rupiah moved in the position of
15,165-15,193 per US dollar.
The position of the
rupiah has also weakened 12.01 percent during the year 2018. The position of
the rupiah at 15,194 per US dollar on Friday this week. This is based on

Meanwhile, the Bank
Indonesia (BI) middle rate or Jakarta Interbank Spot Dollar Rate (Jisdor)
reference rate weakened 49 points to 15,182 per US dollar on Friday October 5
2018 from the position of 15,133 per US dollar on October 4, 2018.

page, the increase in US bond yields triggered a weakening of the movement of
the rupiah against the US dollar.
"The
strengthening of the US dollar continues with the majority of world currencies,
including the rupiah triggered by the increase in 10-year US Treasury bond
yields," said Head of Research at Monex Investindo Futures, Ariston
Tjendra, "he said.
He said, US dollar
yields rose to 3.2 percent driven by positive US economic data. This was
triggered by the addition of private sector jobs that exceeded expectations.
He added, data on
US factory orders also rose 2.3 percent over August. This figure is more than
the expected 2.1 percent increase and orders in July fell 0.5 percent.
"Claims for
unemployment benefits in the US also declined over the past week to
207,000," he said.
Samuel Asset
Management economist Lana Soelistianingsih said, the results of the BI survey
for consumer confidence in September showed improvement so that the general
economic conditions were quite good. BI noted the consumer confidence index
rose to 122.4 from 121.6.
"The results
of the survey seem to have not seen consumer concerns about the weakening of
the rupiah exchange rate. This means that consumers are still relatively
optimistic about the general economic conditions," he said.
